Helen Weighell - Psychotherapist
I am experienced helping people with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties including; abuse, addictions, bereavement, depression, eating disorders, gender and identity issues, low self-esteem, personality disorders, relationship problems, work related stress, sexuality and sexual problems. I work with couples and individuals.
My experience is gained from working in a range of settings including for the NHS, in charities, schools, Higher Education and for Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP).
I now have an established private practice in Walthamstow and joined Stillpoint Spaces in 2017. In addition to my clinical practice, I'm a tutor on the Humanistic Psychotherapy and Counselling programme at Metanoia Institute.
Before training to be a psychotherapist, I worked with international students in Higher Education. My interest in student welfare and cultural diversity ultimately led me train as a psychotherapist, initially embarking on a counselling course in 2001. I remain linked to HE working as a student counsellor for EUSA as part of my private practice. I also deliver Mental Health Awareness trainings in the HE sector.
Qualifications
I trained at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE), gaining an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. I also have qualifications in counselling, working creatively with groups and cultural awareness training. I am registered with United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), as well as a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore bound by their ethical frameworks.
I'm fully insured and have an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate.
